Invocation
Jerry Scott
Father God we come into your presence with thanksgiving.
As we pray we are reminded that it is good to give thanks to the Lord.
"To proclaim thy loving kindness in the morning and thy faithfulness
into the night".
And Father on this night, we come before you through Your Son Jesus
Christ.
Lord, we thank You for bringing each of us here safely, we thank You
for this great gathering, We thank You for the committee who worked
so hard this past year in putting it all together.
Lord, we thank you for the great institution that we call Sea-Land
Service that has brought us together once again.
We thank You for Malcolm McLean and his vision and leadership that
brought each of us into an environment that allowed us to use the
individual and corporate gifts and talents that You have bestowed
upon us.
Lord, we thank You for this very special night
A time to renew our friendships
A time to catch up on each other
A time to celebrate the wonderful years that You gave
us together.
Father, we thank You for putting us in this unique company -
Sea-Land was more than a business -
it truly was a family
And just as with families in general it was a place that allowed each
of us to grow in the use of our God given gifts and talents.
A place where we learned
to pull together
to work together
to play together
to dream together
We thank You Almighty God for placing each of us in this great institution
We thank You for the many joyful years that we had together in building
the industry's true leadership company.
Father, "we do not recall former events nor consider longer the things
of the past but recognize that behold you do a new thing within each
of us " - everyday.
Father bless our time tonight
and may this be but another example of the care that we have for
one another as we come together in this great reunion.
Bless the food to the nourishment of our bodies and bless all of those
who prepared it and all of those who will serve it.
And now Father in the name of Your strong Son, Jesus Christ and in
the power of Your Holy Spirit we ask for your continued grace and
blessings on our work
our families
our friendship
on all of those here tonight on all of those who were not able to
attend.
Father we submit the next minute to you in silence -
in remembrance of each of the brothers and sisters or those spouses
of the Sea-Land family who have gone on ahead of us.
Thank You Lord
